Elon Reeve Musk (b. June 28, 1971) stands as one of the most influential entrepreneurs of our time, revolutionizing industries from electric vehicles to space exploration.

Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Elon’s upbringing was marked by a curious intellect and a thirst for knowledge. His father, Errol Musk, was an electromechanical engineer while his mother Maye was a model and dietitian. Elon’s early experiences were shaped by the intellectual atmosphere at home, where discussions often revolved around literature, science, and technology.

At the age of 17, Elon moved to Canada before settling in California, USA. He pursued education at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics and physics. In 1995, he dropped out of Stanford’s PhD program after two days to co-found Zip2 Corporation with his brother Kimbal. By 1999, Compaq acquired Zip2 for $307 million.

Following the success of Zip2, Elon co-founded X.com in 1999, which later evolved into PayPal and was acquired by eBay for $1.5 billion in 2002. This marked a pivotal moment in his career, providing him with substantial financial resources to pursue his ambitious projects.

In 2002, Elon founded SpaceX, aiming to reduce space transportation costs and enable the colonization of Mars. The company achieved significant milestones like launching its first commercial satellite into orbit in 2008 and sending a spacecraft to the International Space Station in 2012.

Simultaneously, he became involved with Tesla Motors (formerly Tesla, Inc.) as an investor in 2004 and was appointed CEO and product architect in 2008. Under his leadership, Tesla transformed from a startup into a leader in electric vehicles and renewable energy products, spearheading innovations like the Model S sedan and Supercharger network.

Elon’s personal life has been as notable as his professional achievements. He was married to Justine Musk (née Wilson) from 2000 to 2008, during which they had six children together. In recent years, he has also been in relationships with Grimes and the actress Amber Heard.
