Ferdinand Marcos served as President of the Philippines from 1965 to 1986, orchestrating economic reforms while consolidating power. He declared martial law in 1972, citing communist and Muslim insurgencies, and ruled until his ouster in the 1986 Edsa Revolution. Marcos died in Honolulu, Hawaii, on September 28, 1989, from heart, lung, and kidney disease.
