Paul McCartney, knighted for his immense contributions to music and the arts, has been an enduring presence in popular culture since the mid-20th century. Born on June 18, 1942, in Liverpool, England, he is one half of the legendary songwriting duo that shaped modern pop music alongside John Lennon.

McCartney’s early life was marked by a close relationship with his mother, Mary McCartney, who instilled in him a love for music. His father, Jim Mccartney, encouraged his musical pursuits but passed away when Paul was just 14 years old. Despite the loss, McCartney’s passion for playing and composing continued to flourish.

His rise to prominence began with The Quarrymen, a skiffle group he formed in 1957, which eventually evolved into The Beatles in early 1960. McCartney also was briefly married to Heather Mills from 2002 to 2006 before marrying Nancy Shevell in 2011.
