Anne, Princess Royal

Anne, born Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise on August 15, 1950, is the second daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. As Princess Royal, she holds a unique position within the British monarchy, serving as a model for royal engagement with charity work and public service.

Born at Clarence House in London, Anne was raised alongside her siblings Charles (now King Charles III) and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. From an early age, Princess Anne showed an interest in outdoor activities and sports, which would later become a significant part of her identity and career. She attended boarding schools such as Benenden School and Windsor Girls’ School.

The couple divorced in 1992, and Princess Anne later married Tim Laurence, a former Royal Navy officer, on December 12, 2004.
