François Périer
France
François Périer was a prolific French actor who, in 1957, became the first French performer to win a BAFTA Award for his leading role in René Clément's Gervaise 1956. Over a six-decade career, he appeared in classics such as Jean Cocteau's Orpheus 1950, Federico Fellini's Nights of Cabiria 1957, Jean-Pierre Melville's Le Samouraï 1967, and Costa-Gavras's Z 1969. He also narrated the French version of Fantasia and portrayed Salieri opposite Roman Polanski's Mozart in a 1981 Paris production of Amadeus.
