Bram Stoker

In 1897, Bram Stoker published Dracula, introducing Count Dracula to literature. He began writing and researching the novel in 1890 while working as business manager for actor Henry Irving at the Lyceum Theatre. During his lifetime, Stoker was better known as a theatre manager than as a writer. His novel inspired writers like Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft. The Bram Stoker Award for horror writing is named after him.
