Fela Kuti invented Afrobeat music, a fusion of psychedelic rock, jazz, and soul with West African rhythms. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame posthumously inducted him in 2026, the first African musician to receive that honor. He formed his own political party, Movement of the People, and recorded most songs in pidgin English to reach all of Africa.
