Eddie Van Halen reshaped rock guitar with his two-handed tapping technique, heard on the 1978 instrumental Eruption from Van Halen's debut album. Co-founding the band with his brother Alex in the early 1970s, he redefined rock guitar. He recorded the guitar solo on Michael Jackson's 1983 hit Beat It. He died of a stroke on October 6, 2020, at age 65.
