Pablo Escobar, born December 1, 1949, built a cocaine empire that made him the seventh richest person in the world by 1989. He served as a Colombian congressman in 1982 before a joint US-Colombian task force targeted him. On December 2, 1993, police shot him dead in Medellín. Series like Narcos 2015 depict his life and death.
