Alexandre Benois

Alexandre Benois co-founded the Ballets Russes in 1909 with Sergei Diaghilev, designing sets for Petruchka, Giselle, and Les Sylphides. He also curated paintings at the Hermitage Museum from 1918 to 1926 and authored over 100 art books. Benois died in Paris in 1960 at age 89.
