V.S. Naipaul
V.S. Naipaul won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001 for his novel The Enigma of Arrival. Born in Chaguanas, Trinidad in 1932, he attended University College, Oxford and wrote novels that explore postcolonial societies. He also won the Booker Prize in 1971 and was knighted in 1990. His novel The Mystic Masseur was adapted into a film in 2001.
