On May 13, 1961, in Trenton, New Jersey, Dennis Rodman was born. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, attending South Oak Cliff High School. Standing only 5’10 upon graduation, he did not play varsity basketball. He enrolled at North Central Texas College then Cooke County Junior College, walked onto the basketball team, played one season, then dropped out and worked as a janitor at an airport. A recruiter from Southeastern Oklahoma State University saw him and offered a scholarship, launching his career.

The Detroit Pistons drafted Rodman in 1986, and he quickly became known for his defensive intensity. He won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 1990 and 1991 and was named to the All-Defensive First Team seven times. After winning back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990, he moved to the San Antonio Spurs in 1993. He then joined the Chicago Bulls in 1995, where he helped the team win three consecutive titles from 1996 to 1998. Rodman led the NBA in rebounds per game for seven straight seasons from 1992 to 1998. He later played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 1999 to 2000 and the Dallas Mavericks from 2000 to 2001. Off the court, Rodman appeared in films like Double Team 1997 and Simon Sez 1999, and had a reality show The Rodman World Tour 1996. He also wrestled professionally with the nWo.

Rodman has been married three times: to Annie Bakes 1992-1993, Carmen Electra 1998-1999, and Michelle Moyer 2003-2012. He has three children: DJ Rodman, Trinity Rodman, and Alexis Rodman. His father, Philander Rodman, lives in the Philippines and has at least ten children. Rodman dated Madonna in the 1990s. His daughter Trinity plays professional soccer, and his son DJ is a professional basketball player.

Rodman is the best rebounding forward in NBA history. He earned induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011, and the Detroit Pistons retired his No. 10 jersey on April 1, 2011.
