Hermann Hesse

Germany

Hermann Hesse wrote the 1927 novel Steppenwolf, which inspired the American rock band Steppenwolf's name. He also wrote Siddhartha in 1922, adapted into a 1972 film. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature and died in 1962 in Montagnola, Switzerland.
