Mimi Mariani, born Troely Callebaut in Malang in 1928, became the first actress to portray Sri Asih in the 1954 superhero film. Her lead role in Fred Young's musical Lenggang Djakarta in 1953 launched her career. She appeared in multiple films in the 1950s. Diagnosed with lymphoma in 1969, she died on May 1, 1971 at age 42.
