Richard Erskine Frere Leakey, born December 19, 1944, in Nairobi, Kenya, was a palaeoanthropologist and conservationist. He served as Director of the National Museum of Kenya, founded WildlifeDirect, and chaired the Kenya Wildlife Service. Leakey died on January 2, 2022, near Nairobi at age 77.
