Aung San Suu Kyi
Aung San Suu Kyi won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 for her nonviolent campaign for democracy in Myanmar. She spent 15 years under house arrest from 1989 to 2010 for her political activities. As co-founder of the National League for Democracy, she led the opposition against decades of military rule, and her struggle inspired movements worldwide.
