Ali Farka Touré
Ali Farka Touré, a two-time Grammy Award winner, is often credited as the father of Malian blues. Martin Scorsese described his style as the DNA of the blues. Born in 1939 near Timbuktu, he was also a farmer and community leader. He died in 2006 from bone cancer, leaving a legacy as a major figure in African music.
