Bob Dylan
United States
Bob Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman in 1941 in Duluth, Minnesota, created some of the most influential songs of the 20th century. He won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, and nearly 3,000 artists have covered his songs. Blowin' in the Wind became a 1960s protest symbol; his 1965 shift to electric rock with Bringing It All Back Home changed popular music.
