Early life

Cameron Boyce was born on May 28, 1999, in Los Angeles, California, to Libby and Victor Boyce. His mother is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, with roots in Hungary, Russia, Lithuania, and Germany; his father is of African-American and African-Caribbean heritage. His paternal grandmother, Jo Ann Allen Boyce, was one of the Clinton Twelve, the first African-American students to attend a desegregated high school in the South in 1956. Boyce trained as a dancer from an early age and attended Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies before later transferring to Oak Park High School.

Career

Boyce made his acting debut in 2008 with a recurring role on the soap opera General Hospital: Night Shift and a cameo in Panic! at the Disco’s music video That Green Gentleman. That same year, he appeared in his first feature film, the horror movie Mirrors 2008, playing Michael Carson, and in the thriller Eagle Eye 2008. In 2010, he played Keithie Feder, the son of Adam Sandler’s character, in the comedy Grown Ups, a role he reprised in the 2013 sequel. Boyce showcased his dancing skills in the web series The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers and appeared as a featured dancer on Dancing with the Stars in 2011. He also had guest roles on Disney Channel shows such as Shake It Up and Good Luck Charlie, where he played an impostor version of Gabe Duncan. Boyce’s breakthrough came in 2011 when he was cast as Luke Ross, the second oldest child, in the Disney Channel sitcom Jessie. The series ran for four seasons and 98 episodes, making him well-known among young audiences.
