Early life

When Candace Cameron was 10, she landed the role of D.J. Tanner on Full House after appearing in commercials and guest spots on Punky Brewster and St. Elsewhere. Her older brother Kirk Cameron had already broken through on Growing Pains. She was the youngest of four children, born April 7, 1976 in Panorama City, California.

Career

In 1986, at age 10, Candace Cameron was cast as Donna Jo D.J. Margaret Tanner-Fuller on the sitcom Full House, which premiered in 1987. The show ran for eight successful seasons and made her a recognizable face to millions. She also appeared in the 1988 film Punchline playing Sally Field’s daughter. After Full House ended, she married and took a break, but returned to television with roles in I Love the 80s and hosted 50 Cutest Child Stars: All Grown Up. In 2016, she reprised her role in the Netflix sequel Fuller House. She later starred in the Aurora Teagarden mystery series on Hallmark, leaving the network for GAC in 2022 after 18 movies.

Personal life

Candace Cameron married professional hockey player Valeri Bure on June 22, 1996, after being introduced by her Full House co-star Dave Coulier. They have three children: Natasha born August 15, 1998, Lev born February 20, 2000, and Maksim born January 20, 2002. Her husband Valeri was an NHL All-Star and two-time Olympic medalist. She is also sister-in-law to Russian hockey star Pavel Bure and actress Chelsea Noble.

Legacy

Candace Cameron Bure’s role as D.J. Tanner on Full House and Fuller House remains her signature work.
