Philadelphia, 1941 โ€” Gloria Rachel Bloom was born into a Jewish family. Allred has said she does not consider herself particularly religious, but her early environment in the city shaped her drive for justice.

After attending New York University and the University of Pennsylvania, she earned her law degree from Southwestern Law School.

Career

Allred gained prominence representing Paula Jones in 1994. In 1998, she called for President Bill Clinton’s resignation, a stance that set her apart from other feminists. The Boy Scouts of America faced her lawsuit in 2003 over gender discrimination; she coined the term gender apartheid. Subsequent clients included Amber Frey 2004 and Charlotte Lewis 2010.
