At age 4, Stevie Nicks sang country and western duets with her grandfather in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was born on May 26, 1948. After her family moved to San Francisco, she began songwriting and performing at Menlo-Atherton High School, where she met Lindsey Buckingham. They formed the band Fritz and opened for Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. She later attended San José State University but left to pursue music.
