Gabriel García Márquez won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982 for his magical realism. His novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, published in 1967, blended realism and fantasy. He also wrote Love in the Time of Cholera and Chronicle of a Death Foretold. He began his career as a journalist and foreign correspondent.
