Zohran Kwame Mamdani won the election for the 111th Mayor of New York City on November 4, 2025, becoming the city's first Muslim mayor and the youngest in modern times. He previously served as an assemblyman for the 36th District and fought for working-class causes, including winning debt relief for taxi drivers. Before politics, he was a rapper known as Young Cardamom and appeared in the film Queen of Katwe 2016.
