Aygün Kazimova.

Aygün Kazimova grew up in Baku, born January 26, 1971, and first made her mark as captain of the Azerbaijan SSR female handball team. She trained her voice early and attended Baku Humanitarian College. In 1988, she won the Baki Payizi 88 competition, starting her music career.

In 1988, Aygün Kazimova won Baki Payizi 88 and launched her career. She served in the first Karabakh War from 1990 to 1994. She released her debut album Ömrüm – Günüm with Baku Raks Music in 1997. From 2002 to 2006, she presided over the Best Model of Azerbaijan competition. In 2006, she portrayed Khurshidbanu Natavan in the historical musical Khari Bulbullar. She performed at Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium in 2007. In 2011, she competed on Azerbaijan Survivor in Namibia. In 2012, her song Qol became the official theme for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan. On August 16, 2013, she released Coffe From Colombia, her first English maxi-single featuring Snoop Dogg. She judged the first season of Azerbaijan’s Got Talent in 2015. In 2016, she won Best Azerbaijani Female Act at the Daf Bama Music Awards. In 2017, she performed at the Crystal Hall in Baku. Her 2018 studio album DUY included the hits Duy with David Vendetta and S.U.S. Remake, and she performed S.U.S. Remake at the Golden Butterfly Awards in Turkey.

Aygün Kazimova has been married five times: Namiq Qarachuxurlu, Mert Kiliç, Rza Guliyev, Ilgar Ibrahimov, and Farhad Aliyev. She has one daughter, Ilgara Kazimova, who is also a singer. Her nicknames include Diva and Ölkenin Esas Ulduzu.

Often called the Queen of Azerbaijani Pop, Aygün Kazimova won the Golden Butterfly Award for The Brightest Star of Azerbaijan and was named People’s Artiste of Azerbaijan. In 2018, she received the Azerbaijan Woman Artist Award at Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards. Her music promoted a strong female figure in Azerbaijani culture.
