Early life

Beau Biden entered the world on February 3, 1969 in Wilmington, Delaware, the eldest child of then-Senator Joe Biden and Neilia Hunter. When he was three years old, his mother and infant sister Naomi died in a car accident, a tragedy that shaped his family.

He attended Archmere Academy, earned a B.A. in History from the University of Pennsylvania, a J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law, and trained at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School. His stepmother Jill Biden helped raise him alongside his siblings Hunter and Ashley.

Career

Beau Biden served as the Attorney General of Delaware from 2007 to 2015, focusing on consumer protection and child abuse cases. He simultaneously served in the Delaware Army National Guard and deployed to Iraq in 2008 as a Judge Advocate General officer, earning the Bronze Star Medal and the Legion of Merit.

Television appearances included himself on Real Time with Bill Maher in 2003 and Frontline in 1983 archive footage.

Personal life

Beau Biden married Hallie Olivere on November 30, 2002, in Wilmington. They had two children: Natalie Biden and Robert Biden II. He mentored his brother Hunter and stepsister Ashley alongside raising his own children.

After his death, Hallie briefly dated Hunter Biden, but the relationship ended.

Legacy

The Beau Biden Justice Center in Wilmington, named in 2016, and the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children honor his public service and military career. He inspired many in the legal and military communities. Joe Biden credited his son as the reason he re-entered politics. His dedication to justice and service defines his memory.
