Brian Douglas Wilson was born on June 20, 1942 in Inglewood, California, to parents Audree and Murry Wilson. His father was physically and psychologically abusive, but Brian found escape in music. He listened to records by The Four Freshmen and discovered his talent for arranging harmonies. With his younger brothers Dennis and Carl, and cousin Mike Love, he formed The Beach Boys, releasing their first song Surfin’ in 1961.
In 1964, Brian Wilson quit touring with The Beach Boys to focus on writing and producing. That year he wrote Don’t Worry Baby for Ronnie Spector. In 1965, he released Beach Boys Today! and Summer Days And Summer Nights!!. His masterpiece Pet Sounds arrived in 1966, showcasing innovative harmonies and arrangements.
