Mila Kunis was born Milena Markovna Kunis on August 14, 1983 in Chernovtsy, Ukrainian SSR now Chernivtsi, Ukraine to Jewish parents Elvira and Mark Kunis. Her family fled antisemitism in the former Soviet Union when she was seven, relocating to Los Angeles, California.

Enrolled at Rosewood Elementary School, she struggled with English and was diagnosed with ADHD, prescribed Ritalin, which she continues to take as an adult. Her father heard about an acting class on the radio when she was nine, leading her to enroll and meet her future agent. Her first role was in Make a Wish, Molly 1995 as a character named Melinda.

Career

At age 14, Mila Kunis auditioned for the sitcom That ’70s Show 1998 and won the role of Jackie Burkhart by claiming she would be 18 on her birthday.
