Early life
Growing up in a politically active family in Baltimore, Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro’s father, Thomas D’Alesandro Jr., served as the city’s first Italian-American mayor. Her mother, Annunciata M. D’Alesandro, raised her and her siblings, including her brother Thomas L. J. D’Alesandro III, who also became mayor of Baltimore. Pelosi attended the Institute of Notre Dame and later earned a degree from Trinity Washington University. She was born on March 26, 1940.
