At age 4, Travis Barker started playing drums after being inspired by Animal from The Muppet Show. He was born on November 14, 1975, in Fontana, California, and graduated from Fontana High School in 1993. Before pursuing drumming full-time, he worked as a trash collector.

Barker first gained attention drumming for the ska band The Aquabats. In 1998, he filled in for Blink-182’s drummer Scott Raynor and quickly became a permanent member. The 1999 album Enema of the State brought the band global fame. Following Blink-182’s 2005 hiatus, he formed +44 and Box Car Racer. In 1999, he co-founded the Transplants. He has collaborated with artists like Machine Gun Kelly and Yelawolf, and he runs La Salle Records.

In 2001, Barker married Melissa Kennedy; they divorced the following year. He married model Shanna Moakler in a Gothic Disneyland ceremony in 2004. They had two children, Landon 2003 and Alabama 2005, and divorced in 2008. He later married Kourtney Kardashian in 2022. In 2008, he survived a plane crash that killed his personal assistant and both pilots, an event that influenced his diet and outlook.

Named ‘punk’s first superstar drummer, Barker revolutionized pop-punk drumming with an energetic style that blended punk, hip-hop, and rudimental techniques.
