Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

Kurt Vonnegut Jr., born in Indianapolis in 1922, survived the 1945 firebombing of Dresden as a POW and turned that experience into his novel Slaughterhouse-Five. He also published novels like Cat's Cradle and Breakfast of Champions, acted in films including Back to School 1986, and taught at Smith College until his death in 2007.
