Martin Scorsese, born November 17, 1942 in Queens, New York, directed Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, and Raging Bull. He won the Academy Award for Best Director for The Departed 2006 and earned a Palme d'Or for Taxi Driver 1976. Scorsese has directed over 20 Oscar-nominated performances and founded The Film Foundation for film preservation.
