Lucian Freud

Lucian Freud, a leading British realist painter and grandson of Sigmund Freud, created Interior in Paddington in 1951, a work now in the Walker Gallery. He gained fame for his unflinching nude portraits, such as Naked Girl Sleeping II 1968, and his 2002 portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Freud worked extensively in etching from 1982, producing large-format prints with complex line work. He died in London on July 20, 2011 at age 88.
