The family settled in Sleepy Hollow, where Caitlyn Jenner—born Bruce on October 28, 1949 in Mount Kisco, New York—attended Newtown High School. Her father William Jenner was a pole vaulter in the Army. She played college football at Graceland University, until a knee injury required surgery. Olympic decathlete Jack Parker’s coach L.D. Weldon convinced her to try the decathlon, launching a six-year career that led to the 1976 Olympics.
At the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Jenner won the men’s decathlon with a third successive world record, earning the title world’s greatest athlete. After retiring, she pursued television, film, writing, auto racing, and business. From 2007 to 2021, she appeared on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians with ex-wife Kris Jenner and their daughters Kendall and Kylie.
