Anthony Bourdain, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, worked his way from dishwasher to executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles in Manhattan. He later became a producer and writer, earning the National Humanities Medal. Bourdain died by suicide in 2018 at age 61 in Kaysersberg, France, leaving behind a daughter, Ariane.
