The oldest daughter of Donald Trump and Ivana Trump, Ivanka Trump was born in Manhattan on October 30, 1981. She grew up in a wealthy household and attended the Chapin School in Manhattan before transferring to Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut, where she graduated in 1999.

After two years at Georgetown University, she transferred to the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, graduating cum laude in 2004 with a degree in economics. Her parents’ high-profile 1992 divorce, she later said, spurred her determination to build her own career and family stability.

Ivanka Trump began modeling in high school, appearing on the cover of Seventeen and in fashion magazines including Elle and Glamour. She made her film debut in the 2003 documentary Born Rich, produced by Jamie Johnson, which examined wealthy heirs. She later hosted Miss Teen USA and made cameo appearances as herself on Gossip Girl 2007 and other shows.

She joined the Trump Organization in 2005 as executive vice president of real estate development and acquisitions. In 2007, she launched the Ivanka Trump Collection jewelry line. During her father’s 2016 presidential campaign and subsequent administration, she served as an unpaid adviser, choosing not to take a salary. Time magazine named her to its 2017 Time 100 list of most influential people, with an homage written by Wendi Murdoch.

Ivanka Trump married Jared Kushner, a real estate investor and later senior White House adviser, on October 25, 2009, after a three-month engagement. The wedding took place at her father’s National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, with 500 guests including Rupert Murdoch, Barbara Walters, and Natalie Portman. Her Vera Wang gown was inspired by Grace Kelly.

As a condition of marrying Kushner, she converted to Judaism, a step that initially baffled her father. The couple has three children: Arabella Rose born July 17, 2011, Joseph Frederick born October 14, 2013, and Theodore James born March 27, 2016. She holds a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 2024.

The Wharton School awarded Ivanka Trump the Joseph Wharton Award for Young Leadership. As a White House adviser, she advocated for women’s entrepreneurship and paid family leave. She has remained a public figure since the administration ended.
