Growing up in Mara, Tanzania, Josephs Quartzy—born Joseph Marwa on April 16, 1999—was surrounded by the Serengeti region’s natural beauty. His mother Agness R. Nyanokwe and father Johannes Joseph encouraged his artistic pursuits. He attended Padre Pio College of Health and Allied Sciences, studying medical and science subjects, a background that influenced his writing. Church choirs and school performances exposed Quartzy to music early on.

Quartzy’s breakout role came in 2019 when he portrayed Nhwale in the romance fiction film Mr. Local Man. During production, he fell ill and was replaced midway, but his initial scenes remained in the final cut. That same year, he appeared in the action film MissiON XVI and launched his talk show The Real Past with Josephs Quartzy, which ran for three seasons. In 2020, Quartzy took supporting roles in Lucifer’e and The Great Controversy.
