Isaac is a musician and singer who started playing guitar at age 12. In high school, he performed in punk bands and later became the lead vocalist of his group, the Blinking Underdogs.

Born in Guatemala to a Guatemalan mother, María Eugenia Estrada Nicolle, and a Cuban father, Oscar Gonzalo Hernández-Cano. His maternal grandfather was of French descent.

Isaac began acting in a small local play at Miami’s Area Stage Company. He maintains a close relationship with owner John Rodaz Sr., who was among the first to learn about Isaac’s casting as Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Rodaz often seeks Isaac’s input on plays he produces.
