Petar Prlicko.

Petar Prlicko was born in 1907 in Veles, then part of the Ottoman Empire, now North Macedonia, to father Dime Parlichkov. He grew up amid Slavic and Ottoman traditions, an environment that shaped his artistic path. No records exist of his mother or early childhood. His career later tied him firmly to Yugoslav cinema.

Prlicko’s screen debut came in the 1958 film Mis Ston. He gained recognition for his role as Mojso in the 1967 classic Macedonian Blood Wedding. He also appeared in People’s Deputy 1964 as Jevrem Prokić and in The Ballad of the Ferocious 1971. A frequent collaborator with director Živorad Žika Mitrović, Prlicko made nine films with him. His performances earned him the Golden Arena for Best Actor, a top Yugoslav film honor.

Prlicko had a daughter, Anče Džambazova, who became the mother of actor Igor Džambazov. His grandson Igor followed him into acting, continuing the family’s presence in Macedonian cinema. Prlicko’s marriage and other personal relationships are not documented, but his familial ties to the film industry are clear.

In 1991, Prlicko received the Life Achievement Award Slavica for his contributions to Yugoslav cinematography. He made nine films with director Živorad Mitrović, which remain part of regional cinema history. His role in Macedonian Blood Wedding is his most enduring work, and he established foundations for Macedonian film acting.
