Vladimir Zhirinovskiy founded the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia LDPR and ran for president in six elections between 1991 and 2018. He studied Turkish language at Moscow State University and served as a conscript officer in Tbilisi. Zhirinovskiy made provocative statements including suggesting nuclear strikes. He died in 2022 after a lengthy illness.
